West Chester University Comprehensive Campus Master Plan
Embarking on its first comprehensive Campus Facilities Master Plan since its founding in 1871, West Chester University applied its advice to students to “expect excellence” to create a bold plan of growth.
With 12,000 students spread over 2 campuses and 475 acres, West Chester faced issues familiar to any expanding institution; severe shortages of classrooms and offices, outmoded housing, insufficient social and recreational spaces for students, and limited flexibility to embrace ever-changing methods in instruction.
The result was an ambitious Plan to accommodate 4,000 additional students and construct new facilities of all kinds, creating a dynamic, compelling vision of tomorrow’s campus.
