The Project

When Hard Rock Café launched a major expansion and renovation project to meet customer demand at their Philadelphia location, they chose SOSH Architects to articulate the brand experience through design. The project included a complete renovation of the existing 168-seat restaurant and retail space at the corner of 12th and Market Streets. For the expansion, SOSH was tasked to design The Philadelphia Room, a 101-seat function space that connects the Hard Rock complex to the Reading Terminal Market. The project’s post-Industrial Steampunk inspiration is evident in exposed cast iron columns and copper clad ceiling coffers. To optimize space, the SOSH team designed an innovative platform that transitions from daytime dining area to nighttime performance stage. The resulting design captures the rocking vision of this celebrated international brand.
